I wrote this in January or February to an ex-lover, for his birthday. It went unanswered, as I suspected it would. —– I hope this email finds you well. I hope your New Birthday Year yields pleasant memories, challenges met, puzzles solved, and a sense of growth. My 2012 was intense, and ended with a series of difficult question marks. My January has, unbelievably, resolved into a series of affirmations in a way that makes me suspect, yet again, that my life has been edited for continuity and thematic consistency. I continue to fantasize, as I have since I met you, that you’ll show up at my door one day, unannounced. There aren’t a lot of happy reasons on your side to cause that to [read more...]

I wrote this for a few friends, but thought I’d share it with you too. I’m turning 42 on September 18. It’s going to be awesome because that means I’ll be The Answer for a year (geek reference here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phrases_from_The_Hitchhiker%27s_Guide_to_the_Galaxy#Answer_to_the_Ultimate_Question_of_Life.2C_the_Universe.2C_and_Everything_.2842.29 ). And any year that you’re The Answer to the Ultimate Question has to be a great year. So, that’ll rock. But … I was born on my father’s 28th birthday, so he would have been turning 70, if he were still alive. I grew up thinking of it as “our birthday”, but this will my 20th birthday I’ve celebrated without him since the heart attack that took him at age 50. So. That’ll suck. And on Sept 24, I have a settlement hearing for [read more...]

Care and Feeding of Galiana

In the probably-forgettable movie Made In Heaven, seen in my impressionable youth, a new soul falls in love with a guy named Mike in heaven, and then, after she’s born and grows up, although she doesn’t remember him directly, she writes a children’s book called “The Care and Feeding of Mike”. The sweet little phrase stuck with me, and now when I think of care, I think “The Care and Feeding of…” Urg. I have so much want. I want to continue the dialog I entered into with my celebration of male submissives post, reading others’ spectacular writings and leaving comments that make me seem like I know what I’m talking about. I want to keep engaging with Fizz and Chaos of Lab Coats & [read more...]

The List

When we moved to Houston, we managed to sort/categorize/cull about half our stuff (which is fucking miraculous considering we had two weeks’ notice), and I’ve been slowly sorting through the rest since the move, including prepping old computers for donation / recycling. I found The List. You know, THE List! Of course you know which one I mean …  /grin. Sure you do. THE LIST: the names of all the people I’ve ever had physical sexual contact with! Ohhhhh THAT List. My version of The List is ridiculously overcategorized. The rows are numbered, then there’s name, Location, Year(s), Base (as in: 1st base is kissing, 2nd base is clothes off but no orgasms, 3rd base is orgasms but no penetration, 4th base is penetration, and [read more...]

Who's That Girly Girl? (Part 2)

As I mentioned in Who’s That Girly Girl?, I was more of a tomboy growing up than a femme girl. Although I always enjoyed dressing up for special occasions, I didn’t keep my nails painted, and I valued luxurious food with good friends over luxurious pampering (my first manicure ever was the day before my first wedding – I was 25). But since I was 30, I’ve had a tradition with two college friends to go off for a girls’ weekend of pampering and relaxation. Every year, someone needs something specific (a brass candle snuffer, a tall thin vase to balance the mantle, the perfect chunky necklace for someone’s birthday…), and we all hunt together amidst funky shops to find it. This year, I wanted [read more...]

I’m heading out tomorrow for a long-planned Girls’ Weekend with two women I’ve known since college; it’s an annual spring tradition for us to go somewhere fun to browse through cute shops and take a break from our normal lives together. I was afraid I might have to reschedule due to the sudden move, but I’m back on my feet enough to do it, although the location has changed. Usually we’re in some cute Texas Hill Country place (Fredericksburg or Wimberley), but this year, because it’s hard on me to travel, they’re coming to Houston. So we’ll be hitting funky shops and restaurants near downtown, and just skipping the pretty drive. Sometimes the bluebonnets are blooming in time for girls’ weekend, and maybe they are [read more...]

Bad Galiana! What are you wearing?

I’ve been neglecting my blog, I’m sorry. Two days this week with zero posts? Reprehensible! Commence the spankings! (Now I have the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail in my head, where all those nuns needed spanking. Perhaps I could stay a bit longer… Far too much temptation!) In my defense, the past few days have been been pleasantly busy on the phones, with a good steady pattern of call – rest – call – rest. The downside to that pattern is that I don’t tend to finish tasks which take longer than an hour to complete. So to apologize to you, a few casual pictures! I get the question, “What are you wearing?” a lot, and the answer is often the same: [read more...]

In the five months since blogging about being a phone sex operator, I have… In the six months since becoming a phone sex operator, I have… In the twenty-two months since inexplicably developing a mysterious neurological vertigo, I have… In the eighteen years since my father had his fatal heart attack, I have… Where do I start with how my life has changed because of the anniversaries I am experiencing today? In the five months since blogging about being a phone sex operator, I have… rediscovered the joy of writing for an appreciative audience, reaffirmed my creative nature, and remembered how much richer my life feels when I am examining it through written words. In the six months since becoming a phone sex operator, I [read more...]

Hello 2011!

Howdy 2011! I’m so glad you’re here! Here’s a toast to you, with color effects added by the photographer for his amusement, champagne by Kirkland (Costco brand), flat hair by afternoon nap, and lack of makeup by yours truly…  I almost never drink, because I feel drunk for free all the time anyway, but it seemed appropriate tonight. I got to ring in the New Year with the best kind of bang with a fun new caller who got all my geek gamer references on my listings. Fun! I have so much to be grateful for from 2010. I found an anit-vertigo medicine that enables me to do more on single days than I thought I’d be able to, I found an amazing career when [read more...]

Funny little things have changed for me since being a phone sex worker. I was having a slow-motion flirty exchange with someone on a Reddit thread (at the blistering speed of 1-2 messages per day), which moved to private messages, and I found myself unsatisfied with flirting via written words; I wanted to hear his voice. That is completely opposite of my urges since I started flirting on the internet in 2002 – I have said before that I learn all I need to know from email / chat exchanges, so it was startling to me to have dissatisfaction with his writing as a communication medium. My people-watching has completely changed for the naughtier. I’ve always made up stories for strangers to amuse myself, but [read more...]
